Even the father of Roula Pispirigou wonders what has really happened with the death of Iris, his youngest granddaughter who, still a baby, mysteriously left life in Patras.
Revealing are what the grandfather of the deceased baby and father of Roula Pispirigou said in his first testimony in June 2022 in Patras, according to what was made public on the show “Sousou Breakfast” by the editor of the Bam newspaper Petro Kousoulos.
In his testimony, the father of Roula Pispirigou describes what his daughters, Roula and Dimitra, told him about the death of little Iris and, in fact, he wonders about some of them himself…
The description of Iris’s death
“Iris must have been put to bed around 11.30pm. So my daughters and Georgina went to sleep at 2.30 on Saturday night which dawned on Sunday. Then, at 11:30 p.m. when they went to bed, I don’t know if anyone went to see Iris if she was okay. On Sunday morning around 7.30 Rula woke up because she heard a little cry from Iris like a meow we say. He got up and went into the room and gave Iris her pacifier. When he saw her, she was fine, so he put her pacifier on her and let her go back to sleep. Rula did the same, she went back to her bed and slept. While Demetra continued to be with her. After that, Rula woke up between 11 and 11.30 and went to see the baby and realized that he was not well.
“They had to fall down and give him CPR on the spot”
“He uttered a voice and Dimitra woke up too… The opposite may have happened as well. That is, Dimitra went to see the baby and woke up Roula with her voice.
However, what Demetra told me about Iris was that one of her feet was frozen. Realizing something was wrong, they took her to the kitchen where they laid her on the floor. There, Rula started doing CPR on the baby…
When this Dimitra told me about it, I asked her how it was possible that they left the baby without eating for so many hours. It seemed to me a very long time since he had last eaten which was apparently before he went to bed at night at 11.30pm until the next morning at 11.00am…
And I told her more that it doesn’t make sense since Rula got up at 2.30 and gave him the pacifier according to her words”
“How is it that at that moment when the baby was not well, they left and went to the kitchen to do CPR… They had to be there, on the spot and give him CPR” said the grandfather of the deceased baby, among other things.
In fact, according to his testimony, on the night the baby died, he said he himself went to Rula Pispirigou’s house earlier and because he didn’t see her in a good mood, he agreed to take the baby to his house, but Rula Pispirigou denied.
“The only thing I remember as an incident is when Dimitra called me one Saturday and told me that Manos, while fighting with Rula, hit her. Demetra told me this the day before Iris died. I don’t know what day this fight took place between them.
As soon as I found out, I went to Roula’s house on Bizaniou Street in Patras. I then, out of my joy to see my grandchild and because I saw Rula very badly with what had happened, I told her to let me take Iris to my own house for that night. But Rula didn’t want to. I did not persist and after a while I left to let them calm down. I left Roula’s house around 19.30. The next morning Dimitra called me and told me that Irida had probably ended up and at that moment the EKAV was taking her to Karamandaneio”.
“What happened was unexpected”
“I lost it then. I set out at once for Karamandaneum, and when I arrived I learned that Iris had died. What was happening was surprising. While we were at the hospital, a police car had also arrived and they asked Dimitra to go to the department for a statement. He even told her that I should go with her when we leave the hospital but she told me that she would go alone.
Later, when we had already left the hospital, Dimitra called me and told me that she was going to the Police. She specifically told me that at that time she was going to testify and had also taken with her a diaper that Rula found in Iris’s crib as soon as they returned from the hospital. This cloth had a little saliva and a little blood on it…”.
