Kidney failure is a medical condition in which the kidneys function at less than 15% of their normal levels, causing fluid and waste buildup in the body, which leads to potentially dangerous symptoms. There are different types of kidney failure whose treatment varies depending on the type.

Symptoms of kidney failure
The symptoms, causes, and treatment of kidney failure can vary depending on whether the condition is acute or chronic. Despite the types, kidney failure requires immediate and sometimes urgent medical care.
The kidneys are responsible for ridding the body of waste, toxins and extra fluid while returning hormones, glucose, minerals and other important substances into the bloodstream. When the kidneys fail, fluid, waste, and other substances can build up and reach harmful levels. Common symptoms include:
Gradual decrease in urine output.
Swelling in the legs, ankles or feet due to fluid retention.
Nausea.

Feeling of general weakness.
– Shortness of breath.
Chest pain or pressure.

Types of kidney failure
There are two main types of kidney failure that share the same signs and symptoms, but the difference is mainly in how quickly they develop and the causes.
Acute kidney injury: formerly known as acute kidney failure is a sudden loss of acute kidney injury that develops over hours or days and often occurs in people who are already seriously ill.
Chronic kidney injury: Kidney failure can also occur as a result of chronic kidney disease. Headache.
Unintended weight loss.
Muscle cramps.
Itchy skin.
Difficulty urinating.
Difficulty sleeping.

Causes of kidney failure
The causes of kidney failure vary depending on whether the underlying condition is acute or chronic. The distinction is important because the treatment and prognosis for each are different.
Chronic kidney injury
Acute kidney failure is caused mainly by reduced blood flow to the kidneys, usually in a person who is already ill with another serious illness. The reduced blood flow to the kidneys may be caused by:
Hypovolemia: Decreased fluid volume due to blood loss, severe dehydration, diarrhea, vomiting, or burns
Heart failure: A condition in which the heart does not pump enough blood to serve the body’s needs
Hepatic Renal Failure: A condition in which loss of kidney function is associated with damage caused by liver failure
Renal artery thrombosis: a blood clot in one or both major arteries serving the kidneys
Sepsis: a localized infection spread throughout the body that can lead to a sharp drop in blood pressure

Bladder or kidney stones: small, hard deposits that can block urine flow
Prostate cancer: cancer of the prostate gland
Vasculitis: A rare condition that can cause inflammation and narrowing of the blood vessels in the kidneys
Urothelial carcinoma: The most common type of bladder cancer
