Jamila Habsaoui was placed in pre-trial detention on Wednesday April 10 and indicted. The mayor of Avallon (Yonne) and regional councilor is suspected, along with five other people, of being involved in drug trafficking: drugs were found in a house she owns, Sunday April 7, as part of of a series of searches.
After 72 hours in police custody, six people suspected of drug trafficking in Avallon, including mayor Jamilah Habsaoui and two of her brothers, were referred on Wednesday April 10, 2024 to the Auxerre court. Jamilah Habsaoui was placed in pre-trial detention and indicted. Beyond what the courts decide, the placement in pre-trial detention marks a halt to Jamilah Habsaoui’s political career.
