WhatsApp Introduces Media Hub Feature for iPhone Beta

WhatsApp is rolling out a dedicated Media Hub feature in its latest iOS beta, version 26.42.10.74, bringing an interface to iPhones that organizes exchanged photos, videos, links, and documents into a centralized searchable directory.

The iOS Beta Rollout and Origin of the Media Hub

Now spotted in iOS beta 26.42.10.74 via B92, the utility bypasses the traditional per-chat scroll method by aggregating content into a dedicated settings sub-menu.

Engineered to bypass the friction of hunting through deep chat histories, the interface separates incoming files from user-generated outbound media. Self-sent photos, videos, and items governed by vanishing message protocols are deliberately excluded from the index, preserving automatic deletion timelines and reducing local caching footprints on Apple devices.

Two-Tiered Filtering and Search Capabilities

The layout partitions data into two distinct operational views. The Recent section surfaces newly ingested assets, while the All Media view provides a complete repository of stored files. Users can filter categories to isolate photos, videos, or web links, toggling between standard list layouts and high-density grid arrangements.

Granular asset management is handled via contextual actions for individual items. Engineers built in native shortcuts allowing users to forward objects directly to alternative threads, apply reaction emojis, tag items with a star, or jump straight to the origin conversation where the file was initially received. Furthermore, an integrated search bar indexes media metadata, parsing descriptions attached to photos and videos as well as raw URL strings.

Development Status and Public Availability

The Media Hub remains under active internal development within the beta pipeline. Beta testers do not yet have active access to the toggle. WhatsApp plans to initiate restricted testing phases with a limited cohort of users in a subsequent software patch before pushing the feature to the stable production channel.
