WhatsApp now lets you extract text from images on iOS

Since the beginning of this year, the WhatsApp I’ve been testing a feature to detect and extract text from images sent/received by the app — which was finally released with the latest update of the messenger, as seen by the people of the WABetaInfo.

As we reported, the feature makes use of Live Text (Live Text), a feature of the iOS 16 — and therefore cannot be accessed by users who have older versions of the system installed.

As you can see in the image above, when tapping and holding on some textual content in an image, controls are displayed to copy, search and share (among others) the text in question.

It should be noted that the new feature does not work with single-view images, precisely because of concerns about the privacy of these contents.

Voice Status

Announced by Meta last February, the resource to publish audios in Status of WhatsApp has also been released in the latest version of the messaging application.

With this, users can share voice content of up to 30 seconds to all contacts who have permission to view their Status. The mechanics for recording and publishing audio in Statuses are basically the same as in chats, it is worth noting.

Send Audio in WhatsApp Status

To access the above features, you need to update WhatsApp to the latest version. Still, the news may not be available to everyone right away.
