After deleting single-view photos on PC and Mac, WhatsApp will once again offer this feature which allows you to view or send a file which will be deleted after a single view.

For several years, WhatsApp has allowed its users to send single-view photos and videos from the messaging application on smartphones. Photos, videos or voice messages sent can thus be set to be automatically deleted after a single consultation.

However, this function is currently only available on the mobile versions of WhatsApp and not on the PC or Mac applications. However, Meta had launched this function on computers some time ago, but decided to put an end to it a year ago, citing confidentiality concerns. Therefore, when viewing a single video photo on PC, the user was invited to view it on their smartphone, the message cannot be displayed on the Windows or Mac version of WhatsApp.

Finally, it seems that WhatsApp has reversed course and is ready to restart viewing and sending messages from its desktop applications, as the site reports WABetaInfo. In a publication this Sunday, the site specializing in messaging news indicates that “ WhatsApp finally rolls out the ability to send single-view photos and videos from its desktop apps ».

A deployment in the coming weeks

The siteWABetaInfo also indicates that this function is already available for certain users and that it should be deployed more widely “in the next weeks», whether for the Windows version of WhatsApp, for the Mac version, for iPads or for the Web version of instant messaging.

The single-view message feature is different from ephemeral messages. The ephemeral messages will in fact disappear after a day, a month or three months of the discussion. In contrast, single-view messages are designed to erase “after opening.” They cannot also be shared, transferred, copied, saved or captured on the recipient’s screen.
