Wasps always come when it’s most comfortable. At breakfast on the balcony, at the barbecue in the garden or at a picnic in the park. Above all, they love everything that is sweet. Once they have discovered the bread with jam, it is difficult to get rid of them. If you are not careful or try to drive them away by wildly waving them around, you will often get stung. And a bite like that can be pretty painful. The skin swells, turns red and there is a burning pain. For allergy sufferers, a sting can even be life-threatening. In Austria, an estimated 3.3 percent react with severe allergic reactions to wasp, bee or hornet stings.
