When the Links Get Involved: Exploring Memory in Art – Saumur Art School Exhibition 2024

2024-03-06 08:20:50

Betty Hochard, Nathalie Grelier and students from the Saumur Art School will offer a walk through the notion of memory in the Dôme galleries from March 13 to 27.

“When the links get involved…” is the fusion of two universes, brought together within the same exhibition. Nathalie Grelier, embroiderer, evokes the notions of roots, heritage and family heirlooms, with creations entirely fashioned and embroidered by hand, in a cabinet of curiosities spirit.
Betty Hochard, visual photographer and head of the Saumur Art School, transposes her universe into a series of portraits of students who marked her career and members of her family, embodying the links woven between art and the various audiences she meets.
Finally, the creations of the students of the Art School stand out as a link between the two artists. Each group transcribes an aspect of memory, thus creating a common thread between all generations of students. Adult/child duos were created for the occasion, thus perpetuating an intergenerational bond.
All these works will revolve around three main axes: personal memory, transgenerational memory and collective memory.

The exhibition will be held as part of the twentieth edition of the “Mômes en Folie” young audience festival, supported by the Saumur Val de Loire Urban Community.
