On January 13, 2023, the traditional ceremony for the imposition of the white coat and the preparation activity for the transition of students passing to the clinical area were held at the Faculty of Medicine.

Such activities are aimed at students who successfully completed the third year of medical studies, with the participation and support of students entering the boarding school in the sixth year.
Among the objectives of the preparation activity is for students to express and present their motivations, expectations, fears and doubts about their visit to the hospital, and they work with the active method of a deconference. This modality allows the student himself who, after exposing his expectations and fears with the sixth-year students, presents solutions and proposals to solve them before the other classmates present. In this circumstance, topics such as resilience, friendship, time management and professionalism are addressed.

This activity is organized by the Wellbeing program, in charge of Dr. Roxanna Ruiz Cabarrús and Cristina Martínez Sueiras; and directed by the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Federico Alfaro Arellano, with the support of academic management and Dr. Lucrecia Anzueto de Hernández, as well as the coordination of the clinical area, directed by Dr. Sergio Martínez Siekavizza.
During a magisterial conference, Dean Alfaro motivated and urged the students to start with excellence the great work of clinical practice, and highlighted the values and professionalism that should guide the conduct of future doctors. Alfaro also directed the act of the external Hippocratic oath, which the students recite for the first time on their way through the faculty, and later imposed on them the long-awaited white coat.

The ceremony was attended by Gabriela Fernández Moralejo, graduate of the UFM in Clinical Psychology, with a master’s degree in Management and Health Planning from the European University of Madrid. She shared with the students, in a didactic and dynamic way, the topic of leadership.
Dr. Lucrecia de Hernández introduced the basic area students to Dr. Sergio Martínez, as a symbolic act that the students are academically and attitudinally prepared for their passage to the hospital, and Dr. Martínez received them with a motivational talk.
Closing remarks were offered by Dr. Roxanna Ruiz, who urged the students to continue in the hospital environment with academic excellence and professionalism.

The students who entered the internship, in their last year of medical studies, shared with the new ones their form of organization, maps of the hospital, general differences that they will find in the clinical area, and then met sharing experiences and anecdotes, each one with the group with which you will perform your first rotation.
