Who I am? What work do I do? This is my story!

2012 – @ireneccloset

13 years ago I started working as a content creator.. it was October 28, 2009.

Initially it was a blog, Ireneccloset.com: while I was writing my thesis and I had finished my exams, in spring-summer 2009, I peeked through my PC at the American girls who shared their daily looks on their personal sites, the blogs.

In October 2009 Giova told me “Excuse me, why don’t you open your blog too?”. So I went to Blogspot, the blog platform of the time and went online with the first photo, the one you see in this Reel (how small I was!).

While I was discussing my degree thesis in February of the following year, the newspapers started talking about the “blog phenomenon” and the independent voices of ordinary people speaking on the web. And I was among them. So the day after my graduation I was in Milan to see my first shows at Fashion Week (with my PC above my knees, I would have had to wait a few more years for my first smartphone) to write in the Donna Moderna online blog and on my blog.

Many of the people close to me at that point were saying to me: “What are you doing? Not seriously looking for a job in your studies? The blog is nonsense, you’re just wasting your time and energy!”.

Nobody knew it would become a job: me, the others, nobody. But that’s how I threw myself into the void: little jobs on the web to pay my way up and support myself and many, many, many hours in my bedroom working on my project, on my blog, made only of love for sharing, the desire to write and talk to people who share my passions.

You. My community. The central and most important part of my work.

And Giova, to help me, always beside me. The person who has always believed in me and in this work.

during the months of 2010 the blogger phenomenon exploded: Scott Schuman photographed me as a “Blogger” for a 2010 campaign and it was very strange to see me in magazines, shops and billboards. Then the events and works around the world began. At that point, in those years, my blog officially became my job.

Then came Facebook and then with it, after a few years, the first major transformation of my work: slowly Instagram and its rapid and immediate photographic sharing overcame the public’s interest in the blog which gradually diminished, favor of social media.

Yes, the era of social networks had officially exploded: those who failed to evolve then changed, over the years, work (or passion). It was a pretty tough time for all of us of the old guard, that of blogs.

And while I was writing a book for Mondadori and going on TV on RAI 2 to “Detto Fatto” talking about fashion while my passion for travel increased more and more, the videos arrived. Here it is, the second major transformation of my work.

And to think that before TV and videos I was so enormously afraid of cameras, me writing and writing behind a computer but never speaking.

First it was Youtube, of course, but also IGT and then Reel and finally TikTok..

In these 13 years I have grown, matured, my tastes have evolved, as have my thoughts, my sensations.

It’s wonderful to know that you are sharing a part of your life with a community of people, you, who knows me so well: there are those who arrived a long time ago, those who arrived and left, those who came back and those who arrived recently. And I never stop and will never stop thanking you for having decided to be here to listen to me and interact with me: after 13 years this is still magic for me!

What awaits us in the future I still don’t know: many, new, stimulating adventures together, I hope! I’m here <3
