The iPad was first released in 2010. While touchscreen tablets existed by definition already before that, it was really this product that created the category in its modern sense, even if it hasn’t necessarily been very successful. understood at the time.
Every year since then, the Apple brand has released a new iPad model. A tradition that was only broken in 2023.
As explained Clubic, although the iPad is certainly a flagship product, it only represents a negligible part of Apple’s turnover, around 7%. For comparison, the iPhone represents almost half of the Cupertino company’s revenues, and the company therefore cannot necessarily afford a break from its phones, whereas it can perfectly well do so with its tablets.
But this pause is probably due to a desire for restructuring. Indeed, the iPad is available in numerous ranges, from Mini to Pro, which each have different standards and require their own ranges of accessories that are incompatible with each other. A little reorganization would reduce costs for the brand and make life easier for consumers.
What’s more, the brand is planning big changes for the year 2024 which could well be marked by completely new iPads. A good reason to pause to build anticipation…
