The monitors of the domestic pension policy have recently found themselves in the sights of the inspectors. The work of the Old Age Security Commission since 2017 has been “inadequate,” the Court of Auditors found in its recently published statement examination of the pension system. The commission lacks overall statements on the long-term sustainability of pensions and, on top of that, there is a lack of a real boss: the chairmanship has been vacant for two years following the exasperated resignation of Walter Pöltner, and the government cannot agree on a successor.
