There was a huge outcry when plans for three new asylum quarters in Linz were announced in quick succession in March – two larger ones in the former Ibis Hotel near the main train station and in the ÖBB training workshops on Unionstrasse, as well as a smaller state quarters on Lunzerstrasse. Especially at the location at the train station, critics saw a “social overload,” as Linz Mayor Klaus Luger (SP) put it.
