Thick smoke generated by wildfires in Canada slows or halts air traffic in parts of the northeastern United States. The civil aviation authorities (FAA) observed reduced visibility due to the fog created by the lights.

On the afternoon of June 7, the American FAA had already modified the operations on the New York LaGuardia, Newark Liberty and Philadelphia international airports. “All flights to LaGuardia International Airport have been halted and departures have been slowed,” the FAA said in a statement at 2 p.m. yesterday. Philadelphia and Newark have suffered delays.

At the beginning of the afternoon French time this June 8, thethe FAA again indicated a partial closure of Newark airport and slow traffic in Philadelphia and Charlotte. The FAA also announces possible traffic delays at Newark, JFK, Baltimore-Washington and Washington Dulles. In Canada, Montreal and Ottawa are also affected.

Passengers are therefore advised to recheck their departure times.
