will arrive in Guadalajara, Monterrey and more areas of CDMX in 2022

AT&T plans to bring its 5G network to Guadalajara and Monterrey this yearas well as expanding its coverage in CDMX, according to statements by Nicole Rodríguez, vice president and CTO of AT&T Mexico.

During the conference “5G in Mexico: the deployment of technology with a purpose”, Rodríguez advanced AT&T’s plans to expand its 5G network in the country and that it will be in the summer that the deployment will take place:

We can confirm that in the summer of this year different points in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey will begin to enjoy the benefits of 5G. Later we will be sharing more about the markets we will be in and how we will be enabling our users to experience this technology.

In addition to bringing its new network to other states across the country, AT&T is also committed to expand the coverage of its 5G network to more areas of Mexico City. However, AT&T does not specify the areas of the three entities to which its coverage will be expanded, and only indicates that it will focus on the “the most important urban and industrial areas of Mexico”.

AT&T also does not share details of the 5G commercial offer it will have, with which it will allow its users to access the new network. The operator only limits itself to saying that later it will share this important information, together with what refers to the extension of coverage.

AT&T was the first operator to announce the deployment of the 5G network in Mexico, Last December, and in fact it was also the first to connect smartphones to this network in the country. However, this achievement was limited to tests and demonstrations only. According to AT&Tcurrently users in CDMX with a 5G-enabled device have coverage in “the Torre Diana (Corporate of AT&T) and in some points of the colonias Nápoles, Del Valle Centro, Narvarte Poniente and Escandón”.

On the other hand, in february 2022 Telcel announced the full deployment of its 5G network in Mexicocon zones, list of compatible smartphones, plansand virtually all the information necessary for users to start connecting to the new network.
