THE social media world was shocked by the recent Instagram upload of actor from the United States, Will Smith. In his upload, the actor from the film I am Legend (2007) re-shared @asepmulayandam’s video showing the Sultan’s Basket ride located in Situ Gunung, Sukabumi, West Java.

In the description section, the actor who plays Genie in the film Aladin asks about the tourist location. “Where is this??” wrote Will Smith.

In an instant, the comments column for the upload was flooded with netizens from Indonesia and even a number of celebrities. They enthusiastically provide information on the location of these tourist attractions.

“Pruba Valley, Sukabumi, Indonesia” wrote the account owner @sargabs who answered Will Smith’s question. The answer was then replied, “Thank U!” by Smith.

Until now, Sunday (7/4) afternoon, there have been at least around 21,115 thousand comments flooding the upload and 1.2 million likes from Instagram users. So what is the Sultan’s Basket ride? Here’s the information.

1. Sultan’s Basket adrenaline ride.

The thing that stole Will Smith’s attention from the Situ Gunung tour was the Sultan’s Basket ride. The video uploaded by Will Smith shows a basket hanging with a steel rope (sling) and running automatically with the help of a machine. Interestingly, the vehicle runs through a forest area with a river at the bottom.

Quoting from the official Situ Gunung Suspension Bridge website, Basket Sultan is a basket-shaped vehicle made of rattan. This ride is not made for sitting and relaxing but stimulates tourists’ adrenaline with its hanging position with a sling rope and running automatically.

The Sultan’s Basket runs across the river with a route 100 meters long. This Sultan chair is safe for tourists, because it is attached to a steel rope (sling) and uses a motorbike as the driving force.

There are four baskets provided and tourists can ride them alternately. Therefore, visitors must queue to be able to enjoy the sensation of this sliding chair.

2. Location of rides.

For travelers who are interested in trying out the Sultan’s Basket ride, this ride is located in the Situ Gunung area, Jalan Kadudampit, Gede Pangrango, Kadudampit, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. This tourist attraction is open every day from 07.00-16.00 WIB Monday-Friday and from 07.00-17.00 during weekends and high season.

For those who want to travel using public transportation, you can take the train to Sukabumi. The closest station to Situ Gunung is Cisaat Station. This station is one station before Sukabumi Station.

Upon arrival at Cisaat Station, there are motorbike taxis and public transportation available which can be used as transportation to the Situ Gunung tourist area.

3. Ticket prices for the Sultan’s Basket Ride.

For the cost of riding the Sultan’s Basket at Situ Gunung Sukabumi, there are two tickets provided, namely VIP and Regular tickets. For a VIP ticket, travelers need to spend IDR 100 thousand and it includes a number of facilities such as transportation to explore Situ Gunung, get a welcome drink and snack, then experience crossing a suspension bridge in the middle of the forest and can experience the Sultan’s Basket ride.

However, regular ticket holders must pay an additional fee of IDR 40,000 per person to be able to enjoy the Sultan’s Basket ride. Regular tickets are priced at IDR 50 thousand-IDR 75 thousand, depending on the choice of the Situ Gunung trekking route.

Apart from the Sultan’s Basket ride, the Situ Gunung area has various other interesting rides, namely Suspension Bridge, Lembah Purba, Sawer Falls, Situ Gunung Lake, De’ Balcone Resto, Glamping, Camping Area, Amphitheater, and Flying Fox. (Z-2)
