Will Smith’s first response to the decision to ban him from attending the Oscars for 10 years

American actor Will Smith has expressed his respect for the decision issued by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars, to ban him from attending any Academy events for 10 years, after his famous slap against Chris Rock.

It is worth noting that the Academy clarified in a statement, saying: “The Academy Awards ceremony is intended to celebrate individuals who have done a great job during the previous year, but this moment and the unacceptable behavior of Will Smith overshadowed the ceremony and the historical moments of the rest of the guests.”

The board also held a meeting today to discuss ways to respond to Will Smith’s actions, and decided not to allow Smith to attend any of the Academy’s events or programs in person or virtually for 10 years.
