William Gomes renova até 2031

FC Porto has officially secured the future of forward William Gomes, tying the young Brazilian talent to a new contract through 2031. The updated agreement, announced in October 2026, places a steep €100 million release clause on the 20-year-old winger, showing his rising importance to the reigning Portuguese champions.

The formalization of the deal, accompanied by club photographs featuring André Villas-Boas alongside the player, cements a remarkable rise for a prospect who arrived in Portugal in early 2025 from São Paulo Maisfutebol. Over his initial months at the Estádio do Dragão, Gomes quickly adapted to European football, featuring across multiple competitions and scoring his first goal during the Club World Cup.

From São Paulo newcomer to decisive starter under Farioli

Gomes’s definitive breakthrough in the blue and white shirt arrived following the appointment of manager Francesco Farioli. Entrusted with regular starting roles in both domestic league action and the UEFA Europa League, the young attacker rewarded his coach’s faith with a prolific scoring streak in four consecutive matches.

That run famously included a strike in the clásico against Sporting at Alvalade, which later earned recognition as the Liga Portugal Best Goal. Across his first complete campaign in European club football, Gomes logged more than 2,000 minutes spread across 46 appearances. He directly contributed to 15 goals—netting 13 times himself while providing two assists—finishing the season as the second-highest scorer for the national champions behind teammate Samu.

The player's scoring touch has continued into the current campaign. Following the club’s 31st league title and a 25th Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira triumph, Porto has opened the league schedule strongly. Gomes has contributed two goals and two assists in victories over FC Arouca, Académico de Viseu, and Moreirense FC.

Establishing long-term value at the Estádio do Dragão

With his place firmly established in the starting eleven for the club’s opening fixtures of the 2026/27 season—including a long-awaited appearance in the UEFA Champions League—Gomes’s renewal secures stability for Porto’s sporting department. Across his appearances for the main squad since arriving from Brazil, the attacker has accumulated 16 goals and 4 assists Maisfutebol.

As the squad prepares for the rigors of domestic title defense and continental competition, Gomes remains central to the tactical plans of the technical staff.
