Williams F1 e-sports team apologizes for ‘violation of code of conduct'[F1-Gate.com]

The Williams F1 esports team has apologized after an investigation found that a member of the team violated its code of conduct at last week’s 24 Hours of Daytona iRacing round.

Williams Esports won the overall iRacing at last weekend’s 24 Hours of Daytona and finished third in the GT class. However, the team was heavily criticized for how it violated iRacing rules and ran on the apron instead of the bank, earning his position on pole for the race.

The team was also accused of using unsporting tactics with a second GT car that was laps behind in the race. Observers claimed that the driver appeared to have ignored the blue flag and delayed a rival car to help his teammate.

Williams has apologized to its competitors after the investigation.

“We have learned that the behavior of some members of the Williams Esports team violates our standards of acceptable team behavior,” the team said in a statement.

“We sincerely apologize to both our fellow competitors and the wider esports community.”

“Williams Esports, as a major player in the industry, is continuously committed to working with game developers and tournament organizers to ensure clear regulations and consequences for violations are consistently enforced. “

“Accountability, integrity and regulation are key to the continued growth and sustainability of simracing and the wider esports industry, and we are committed to taking that forward.”
