The largest Illinois Lottery jackpot in at least three years is up for grabs Thursday.
According to a press release from the Illinois Lottery, Thursday’s lottery jackpot ballooned to $15.2 million. “If a player wins tonight’s jackpot, it would be the biggest lottery win of the year and the fourth biggest in nearly three years,” the statement read.
Last month, two Illinois Lottery players, one who bought a ticket online and the other who bought a ticket at a gas station in Oak Forest, each won $1 million. However, the jackpot continued to grow, officials say, even after those prizes were won.
But those aren’t the only lucky lottery players who have seen big cash wins recently.
In June 2020, an Illinois Lottery player walked away with a whopping $16.5 million playing Lotto, authorities say.
Lotto is a game unique to Illinois, with drawings taking place three times a week on Mondays. Thursday and Saturday.
