Nvidia: unrivaled domination of the graphics card market
Nvidia literally crushes the competition by claiming no less than 78% market share compared to its rival AMD. This figure may be surprising at first, especially when you know that the new generation of RTX 40 graphics cards arrived last summer.
However, it is the cards from the previous range, the RTX 3060 (mid-range) which are at the top of the ranking with 6.92% of Steam users. They are followed by the RTX 2060 (previous generation) at 4.10% and the GTX 1650 (entry level) at 4.07%. This popularity for the RTX 3060 can perhaps be explained by an attractive performance/price ratio, especially since the prices of graphics cards have generally tended to fall in recent months.
Windows 10: still the darling of gamers
In terms of operating system, Windows 10 (54.40%) remains the big favorite among PC gamers. It must be believed that the community is not yet completely convinced by Microsoft’s arguments, which nevertheless positions its new Windows 11 as the operating system designed for gaming. Windows 11 comes in second with a respectable score of 41.61%, but fails to dethrone its predecessor.
There is a fun fact to note in this survey: there is still a small handful of PC gamers (around 0.08%) who continue to use Windows 8, an operating system that was abandoned by Microsoft and Steam at the start of the year. . These die-hard operating system Gauls are undoubtedly fans of stability and do not see the point in moving to another OS.
