Windows 11 preview released as part of the Windows Insider Program

In parallel with the release of Windows 11 build 25926, Microsoft offers PCs registered on the Dev channel Windows 11 build 23521. This Preview introduces some new features, improvements and fixes bugs.

The release note is quite substantial. Among the highlights we can mention the introduction on the DEV and BETA channels of a public preview of Windows 365 Switch. This feature makes it easy to move between a Windows 365 Cloud PC and the local office. It supports traditional keyboard commands, mouse click or even swipe in the display of current tasks on the desktop.

Users connected and managed by AAD benefit from the reactivation of Copilot. It is no longer necessary to go through the Group Policy Editor.

New Task Manager Design

The Task Manager settings page is updated to match the Windows 11 design. The interface is cleaner by separating categories into different sections. Some Task Manager dialogs have also been updated.

Fixes and known issues

Windows Search (taskbar) now uses the Microsoft Bing Search application to return web content and search results.

In the European Economic Area (EEA), Windows now requires consent to share data with connected Microsoft services. Some Windows features are beginning to verify this consent and more will be added in future releases.

The Snipping Tool (screenshot) is the target of an update. It allows the utility to upgrade to version 11.2306.43.0. It introduces new buttons allowing screenshot edits in Paint and screen recordings in Clipchamp.

Finally being on the DEV channel it is not advisable to use this Preview on a production PC. Microsoft reports several unfixed issues. They affect the start menu, the search function in the taskbar or even Copilot.
