The latest Preview of Windows 11, build 25182 offers many fixes. It is intended for PCs registered on the DEV channel of the Windows Insider program.
The focus is fixing problems. Microsoft has addressed several issues affecting the taskbar and File Explorer. At the same time, the start menu crash preventing the launch of applications from the home screen is a thing of the past.
Regarding the taskbar, we have three fixes. The first two tackle display issues. Redmond explains
“We fixed a bug that causes the overflow flyout to appear unexpectedly on the opposite side of the screen. This was erroneously noted as fixed in build 25179. We also fixed an issue that caused the taskbar animation to display incorrectly when a user switches from a tablet position to a desktop position by case of overflow during connection. »
The third patch resolves an issue with explorer.exe crashing when the system tries to determine whether the taskbar overflow should be displayed or not. This can happen when exiting a fullscreen game.
On the File Explorer side, we have four fixes. One of the most notable concerns folders that can duplicate themselves. Microsoft explains that in some cases, Home, Documents, Pictures, and even other folders can be duplicated in the Navigation Pane and even show up on the desktop. The problem has been corrected. Added to this is the fix of an issue that prevented the left half of the title bar from sliding via mouse or touch. The request to open multiple folders in a new tab now works while an update to Narrator allows access to a OneDrive folder using the Navigation Pane.
