Windows 11 Sun Valley 3, development will begin

Announcing Windows 11 build 22581 is a milestone. This is the start of the development of the next evolution of the OS, Sun Valley 3

Microsoft has just released a new Preview of Windows 11. This build 22581 is now available on the DEV and BETA channels of the Windows Insider Program. The arrival on the BETA channel is a “big step” for Sun Valley 2, but not only. This is also the start of the development of Sun Valley 3.

Windows 11 Sun Valley 3

PCs signed up to the DEV channel will soon transition to the CU (Copper) development branch. For our part, we are talking about Sun Valley 3 or even the third major version of Windows 11 scheduled for 2023. For its part, the beta channel will host the next versions of the NI development branch (Nickel). It is Sun Valley 2 or Windows 11 22H2, which is scheduled for release this year.

Note that the presence of the same version on both channels is at the origin of a rather special situation. Knowing that it will not last if you want a more stable version of Windows 11 for the future you can migrate to the BETA channel. The operation is not complicated. It boils down to three steps.

Go to this address:

Paramètres > Windows Update > Programme Windows Insider.

Then select “Choose your Insider settings” then opt for Beta Channel.

Windows 11 build 22581 is a minor release. It mainly focuses on fixing bugs. We still have some new features and improvements. For example, the tablet-optimized taskbar is available for all PCs registered on the DEV and BETA channels of the Windows Insider program.
