Windows update crashes applications using DirectX or Direct3D

If you have apps crashing on your Windows operating system and they use DirectX, you should know that there might be an explanation, and the culprit would be an update rolled out by Microsoft.

Microsoft has confirmed a new issue on Windows causing application crashes after update KB5019980, which dates from November 2022. Some apps keep crashing on Windows

According to Microsoft, the Windows systems that are affected are Windows 11 version 22H2, Windows 10 version 22H2, Windows 11 version 21H2, Windows 10 version 21H2, Windows 10 version 20H2 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019. A server version would also be impacted: Windows Server 2022.

Microsoft says thata fix will be made in a future update. However, it is not known exactly when the Redmond company will roll it out. As it seems to be an important bug, we imagine that it will be solved in priority.

Fortunately, there is already a workaround that affected users can try.
