This Saturday, September 17, the Trophée des Vainqueurs launched the 2022-2023 basketball season in Guyana. The evening ignited the public of the territorial sports center Georges Donzenac which filled up in Cayenne.
Two tempting posters for this evening of resumption of basketball competitions: US Sinnamary / Sport Guyanais for senior girls and ASC Tours / Sport Guyanais for senior boys. In the end, Guyanese Sport thwarted the predictions and wins in both categories.
With a team strengthened by new recruits and the rise of young players trained at the clubthe ladies of Sport Guyanais won 52 to 48.
The US Sinnamary, which has dominated Antilles-Guyanese basketball for several years, has not found the solution and had to resolve to concede the Trophy of the winners.
The announced return of the Tour and Asam teams to the senior championship should make it possible to relaunch Guyanese women’s basketball struggling for a few seasons.
Sport Guyanais also won on the men’s side. Facing an arch-favorite opponent, the yellows and blacks played without complex, creating the surprise. A victory against Asc Tours with a score of 76 to 71 after a suspenseful match.

The Territorial Sports Center Georges Donzenac filled up this Saturday evening in Cayenne. Basketball fans were eager to find their favorite teams on the pitch after the break.
Last season aroused the enthusiasm of the Guyanese public with the epic of the gentlemen of Asc Tours in the Coupe de France and the new title of champions Antilles Guyane of the ladies of the US Sinnamary.
With this performance at the Trophée des Vainqueurs, and just before the resumption of the championship, Guyanese Sport intends to make it known that it will also be necessary to reckon with it this season.
