Walborg celebration. Winter raged without our flora. Once again I have stood on Vårdberget and welcomed spring with a one-sided male voice in my ears. One could have thought that an equal society would mean that the Flora choir would have even received 30 percent of the broadcast from Vårdberget.
Unfortunately, we only got to hear a couple of songs by the Flora choir while the male voice echoed throughout the program.
The songs performed by the choirs together were the highlight of the event, where the collaboration became a harmony you soon forget.
Women’s voices are pleasant to listen to, why not include them more?
Why not give them as much space as Brahe Djäknar gets?
Why not encourage equality?
Why should old traditions be an obstacle to social development? I wish to see a change in the sign of gender equality next year, and every year after that.
