In a painful incident and terrifying details, 3 Russian teenage sisters are being tried for the murder of their father, after he committed physical and psychological abuse against them for years.
The details of the incident go back when the three sisters fatally stabbed their father while he was sleeping in their house in Moscow, until he died.
The case witnessed a wide public interaction, with more than 300,000 people signing a petition calling for their release.
In the details, on the evening of July 27, Mikhail Khachaturian, 57, summoned his three daughters Christina, Angelina and Maria, who was a minor at the time, one by one to his room, and he reprimanded them for their failure to clean the house, and he sprayed their faces with spray. Chili pepper.
After he went to bed, the girls attacked him with a knife, hammer, and pepper spray, and fatally stabbed him in the head, neck, and chest, leaving more than thirty knife wounds on his body.
Then the sisters called the police who arrested them from the crime scene.
Investigations revealed that the father had been beating his girls for three years, torturing and treating them as prisoners, in addition to committing sexual abuse against them.
The sisters’ testimony against their father was confirmed in the indictment. The sisters’ mother, Aurelia Dandek, who had also suffered beatings and abuse at the hands of her husband in the past, called the police for help years before, as did the neighbors who feared him.
However, there is no indication that the police did anything about any of these appeals, according to the BBC Arabic website.
The case of the Three Sisters moved at a slow pace. The girls are no longer in detention, but are subject to restrictions that include a prohibition on speaking to the press and talking to each other.
The prosecution insists that the murder was planned in advance; He was asleep and the sisters had orchestrated their actions, and had pulled out the knife earlier that day. The prosecution considers that revenge was the motive for the crime.
If convicted of the murder of their father, the girls will face a maximum prison sentence of twenty years.
Investigations indicate that Angelina carried the hammer, while the knife was in Maria’s hand, and Christina was the one who carried the pepper spray.
The sisters’ lawyers say the incident was in fact in self-defence.
The Russian Penal Code allows for self-defense not only in cases of direct assault, but also in cases of “continuous crime” as well as in cases of kidnapping in which the victim is subjected to torture.
The defense maintains that the sisters were victims of an “ongoing crime” and should therefore be released. The sisters’ lawyers hope the case will be dropped.
Investigations confirmed that Khachaturian, the father, had been violating his daughters since the beginning of 2014.
