Witness.. A man was released after being imprisoned for 8 years for a crime he did not commit

Shamel Capers spent 8 years of his life in prison for a crime he always claimed he didn’t commit, in New York State.

Capers is accused of being the second shooter in the death of 14-year-old Diagaya Robinson in 2013.

“I feel like I’ve missed everything,” said Capers, speaking of the time from the ages of 15 to 24.

He indicated that he hoped his journey would be an inspiration to others, saying: “If you know you are innocent, fight until the day your innocence appears.”
