Woman becomes paralyzed after airline refuses to help her

A disabled Florida woman is paralyzed after falling at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, reports the New York Post.

Gaby Assouline, 24, suffers from a muscle disease that forces her to use a wheelchair to get around.

In February, she was to travel from Florida to Denver. Before boarding the plane, she reportedly asked Southwest Airlines if an employee could help her through the passenger jetway. The supervisor allegedly refused; she therefore had no choice but to travel alone.

Ms. Assouline allegedly fell out of her wheelchair and landed on her head. She is now paralyzed and needs to be fed through a tube.

A crowdfunding campaign was created by her mother on the GoFundMe platform to help pay for medical expenses.

The lawsuit asks the airline to bear the cost of the care that the young woman will need.
