Woman killed after trying to recover stolen vehicle with AirTag

We have already commented on multiple cases of lost or stolen items that ended up being recovered by the owners thanks to AirTag.

However, some cases must be taken seriously — and that even includes understanding when to *not* try to repossess the property yourself. I say this because a driver was killed after trying to recover her vehicle using the tracker, according to information from KGET.

The crime happened in March, when a 61-year-old woman was found injured after a shooting in the city of Bakersfield, California. According to police information, after the car was stolen, the victim went after the suspects to try to recover his vehicle.

She sadly passed away from her injuries on April 1st. Four suspects have been indicted in the case.

While using AirTag to track vehicles and other valuables is generally a smart move, using this facility inadvertently may not always be the best thing, as we said. In most cases, the right thing to do is to go to the local authorities and provide what information you have so that the situation can be handled with due care.
