Women’s volleyball team returns home amidst fans’ hospitality, “I will work harder”

The Korean women’s volleyball team has returned from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Nations League (VNL).

Fans who visited the airport warmly welcomed the players who returned from a long journey.

The Korean women’s volleyball team returned to Korea through Incheon International Airport on the 5th.

Despite the poor performance at the arrival hall, many fans were seated early and waited for the players. The players, who moved without any special entry ceremony, faithfully responded to the photo shoot request and expressed their gratitude for the support.

Korea, which started anew under Cesar Hernandez’s manager, ended the tournament with 12 defeats.

Korea, where a generational change is inevitable, as young players such as Kim Yeon-kyung (Heungkuk Life Insurance), Yang Hyo-jin (Hyundai E&C), and Kim Su-ji (IBK Industrial Bank), who have supported the national team for more than 10 years, announced their retirement immediately after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the competition is dominated by young athletes. However, they could not avoid the stigma of being the first team to lose after the launch of VNL in 2018.

Unlike the first and second weeks, which collapsed helplessly, it was still positive that the organization gradually began to be refined in the third week.

“I knew it was a difficult situation,” Cesar said. He worked hard with the idea that it was a process of development. He was trying to get good results, but it was a little difficult because there were players who were inexperienced,” he said.

Park Jung-ah (Korea Expressway Corporation), who digested the contest as the captain, said, “In the beginning, it was difficult because I couldn’t show a lot of good looks, but in the last week, I think that a good image came out as I gained experience. I will try harder,” he said.

The delegation will return to their respective teams to rest and train at the same time, and then reconvene at the end of this month to prepare for the World Championship (jointly hosted by Netherlands and Poland) scheduled for September.

The convening list will be announced at a later date.
