Chelsea defender Reece James, who suffered a knee injury against AC Milan on Tuesday, is expected to be out for eight weeks and will therefore not play the World Cup in Qatar, according to the London club’s press release on Saturday.
James a “consulted a specialist this weekend” et “after discussion between all parties, Reece will undergo a treatment program and he is expected to be out for eight weeks“, write the Blues in their press release.
With England’s first game in the competition taking place on November 21, against Iran, the right-back, who is a regular starter in this position in the selection, will not be handed over in time. The World Cup is due to be held from November 20 to December 18.
