World Day for Neglected Tropical Diseases

Buruli ulcer, bilharzia, lymphatic filariasis, sleeping sickness or leprosy… These diseases are among the 21 Neglected Tropical Diseases listed by the WHO, and which affect more than a billion people. These diseases are prevalent in areas where access to quality health services, drinking water and sanitation is difficult.

What are the characteristics of these diseases? How to prevent them? Is it possible to eradicate them? And where is the research? Is there progress in the treatment of some of these pathologies?
