India wins gold at Women’s World Boxing Championships Nikhat Sareen won the gold medal by defeating Jitpong Juthamas of Thailand in the 52 kg category final. The 25-year-old from Nizamabad, Telangana won 5-0. With this, Nikhat became the fifth Indian woman boxer to win the World Cup.
The 25-year-old Nikhat won the gold medal by defeating Thai boxer Jitpong Jutamas 5-0 in a one-sided match. Nikhat Sareen advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Caroline de Almeida of Brazil. Six – time world champions MC Mary Kom, Saritha Devi, Jenny RL and Lekha C are the only Indian women boxers to have won the World Cup.
Nikhat Sareen is a consistent performer. Nikhat also won a bronze medal at the 2019 Asian Championships. Nikhat Sareen, who recently won a medal at the Strandja Memorial, became the first Indian to win two golds here.
