At the heart of a media storm since he announced during an interview with a Spanish media that he intended to give up cinema, Xavier Dolan confirmed that this was indeed the case on Friday.

At 34, the Quebecer confirms that he wants to turn the page on his career as a director.
“I said I wanted to quit making movies, and I’m at peace with that decision,” he wrote on an Instagram post.
Xavier Dolan adds that “he is fine”, and thanks his fans for having supported him in the last hours.
A statement released by the Goodwin agency, however, indicates that he will continue his involvement in projects on television.
“I no longer want to deal with the anxiety linked to the need to perform, to be successful, to be liked or not. I no longer want to depend on others. I want to be independent”, can we read.
Last November, the director thought about taking a break, evoking the stress that hides behind all his projects.
