Xbox Home gets UI changes, but fans want more customization options

The platform interface Xbox Home is receiving news that meet some requests from your fans. That is, finally the distribution of elements on the screen is giving more space to view the wallpaper. But, there are still complaints about the lack of customization options.

Even so, this subtle change is already present in the testing phase, which means that only the so-called “Alpha Skip-Ahead” e “Alpha Xbox Insider” are able to access this change in the look of the system, which was announced by the company during the month of April. Ivy Krislov is a senior product manager for Xbox Experiences and said in a blog post:

As we mentioned when we paused our experiments last month, we heard you tell us that the changes to the top of Home felt crowded and didn’t leave enough room for you to enjoy your background. So we designed hundreds of options, then refined them with prototypes, and finally tested them with users in our research labs until we found one we hope you’ll love. It balances experience, accessibility, function, and the needs of our community.

In general, the interface now has a set of floating icons, centrally positioned at the top of the screen. In that sense, they reference the Library, Microsoft Store, Game Pass, Search, and Settings. This is a new look for quick access to these elements.

To give a larger space for viewing the wallpaper, the sizes were reduced, in addition to being moved to a lower region in the interface. Not only that, but an option has also been implemented that temporarily changes the background to in-game art when the user hovers the selector over it.

Despite being an addition that makes Xbox Home more customizable, there have been complaints from players regarding the lack of freedom to organize the look of the platform however you want. Therefore, it is worth following up to find out whether all orders will be fulfilled by the brand or not.
