Xbox update: mute option and HDMI-CEC control for everyone! | Xbox One

Like every month, Microsoft has rolled out a new update adding a few features to consoles in the Xbox ecosystem. Thus, the different models of Xbox One and the Xbox Series X | S today welcome two new features that may prove useful.

It’s all about control

The different models of Xbox One as well as the Xbox Series X|S are getting new features thanks to the April update. Rolling out today, it will give your hardware the ability to mute all sound coming from the console’s operating system. It also allows you to choose your broadcast source on the television (provided you have the appropriate equipment). Accessible to Insiders members since November lastthis feature is now available to everyone.

You can now silence sounds you hear while navigating your Xbox console, such as when you change your cursor over different items, activate items, receive notifications, and more. To apply these settings, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio, then select Mute navigation sounds, Mute notification sounds, or both.

Press the Xbox button on your controller to switch input from any source (like the TV) to your Xbox console. To enable this feature, go to Settings > General options > TV & display > Device control > HDMI CEC input > Switch to TV using gamepad
