Xi Jinping and E. Macron discussed the war between Israel and Hamas by phone

“The two heads of state exchanged views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and both believe that the top priority is to avoid further deterioration of the situation between Palestine and Israel, especially to avoid a more serious humanitarian crisis,” broadcaster CCTV said in a statement.

The conversation took place a few days before the visit of French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna to China. In addition, a delegation of the heads of diplomacy of the Palestinian Authority, Indonesia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan is currently visiting Beijing to negotiate the de-escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

As reported by CCTV, Xi Jinping and Macron agreed to “continue to communicate on international and regional issues of mutual concern, to contribute to the maintenance of world peace and stability.”

“A two-state solution is the primary way to resolve the renewed Palestinian-Israeli conflict,” the statement added.

Mr. Macron visited China on a three-day state visit in April. The French president visited Beijing, where he was received by Xi Jinping, and Guangzhou, in the south of the country, where he met with students.
