Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, August 30. In the early morning of August 21, a flash flood occurred in Jinyang County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province due to heavy rainfall, causing some deaths and loss of contact at the steel bar processing plant of the project department of the JN1 section of the Yanjiang Expressway.
After learning about the relevant situation, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, issued an important instruction, requiring all efforts to search for the missing persons, and properly do a good job in dealing with the aftermath such as comforting the families; Relevant responsible persons should learn lessons deeply, draw inferences from one instance, comprehensively investigate problems, consolidate the responsibilities of all parties, strengthen safety supervision, and ensure the safety of people’s lives and property.
Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, issued an instruction, calling for the verification of the situation to be carried out, to find and rescue the missing persons, to find out the cause as soon as possible, to learn lessons, and to strictly pursue accountability in accordance with the law.
