A Xiaomi launched on August 1st two new entry-level smartphones Redmi 12 5G and Redmi 12 4G, models that share some technical characteristics focusing on cost-effectiveness. Despite the announcement at the beginning of the month, the availability of cell phones started only on the morning of last Friday (4th) in India.
According to official information from the manufacturer, the Redmi 12 line — which includes both 5G and 4G versions — sold more than 300,000 units in just 24 hours after the stock has been released. The company, however, did not reveal the exact number that each model sold, but considering the popularity of 5G, it is possible that it will lead sales.
With this impressive result, Xiaomi obtained in a single day more than US$ 3 million with the Redmi 12 line, an amount equivalent to R$ 1.4 billion in direct conversion into Brazilian currency. This confirms the interest of the brand’s customers in phones with a more accessible price and technical specifications capable of running applications and light games.
The Redmi 12 5G comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset and three RAM memory options: 4 GB, 6 GB or 8 GB with up to 256 GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the 4G variant brings under the back cover the SoC MediaTek Helio G88 offering similar performance but without compatibility with the fifth generation of mobile networks.
