XPPen Launches Magic Pro 13 Standalone Drawing Tablet with MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Chip
XPPen released the Magic Pro 13 standalone drawing tablet featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, an upgrade over the MediaTek MT8771 chip found in its predecessor, the Magic Drawing Pad. The device weighs 655 grams, measures 0.7 centimeters thick, and runs Android 16 with XPPen’s interface.
Display Specifications and Color Gamut Coverage
The IPS display measures roughly 13 inches diagonally and delivers a resolution of 3,096 by 2,064 pixels. A 120-hertz refresh rate manages screen motion, while peak brightness reaches 650 nits alongside a matte panel coating to reduce glare. Color performance covers 100 percent of the sRGB color space and 96 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut. The previous Magic Drawing Pad featured lower resolution, refresh rate, and brightness figures.
Hardware Performance and RAM Constraints
The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor powers the tablet alongside eight gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal storage. A side-mounted microSD slot supports storage expansion up to two terabytes. Testing with Clip Studio Paint showed that creating an A4-sized canvas at 350 dots per inch caused cursor lag when erasing, an issue that intensified at A3 scale. Lighter software like Infinite Painter ran without performance interruptions. A 10,200-mAh battery provides between eight and ten hours of drawing time and supports up to 45-watt charging.
Stylus Features and Physical Controls
XPPen bundles the X4 Smart Chip Stylus with the tablet, which detects over 16,000 levels of pressure sensitivity. The pen features a round front section and an flattened rear profile to prevent rolling on flat surfaces. Two front-facing buttons offer limited customization options, restricting users to shortcuts like app switching or returning to the home screen rather than tool toggling. A physical slider switch on the side of the tablet deactivates touch input to prevent accidental palm marks while drawing.
USB-C Port Activates Display-Off Mode for PC Use
The operating system includes standard Google services alongside XPPen’s Canvas app, a notes app, and a math app. Fully unlocked drawing software requires separate subscriptions or purchases, such as an annual subscription for Clip Studio Paint or a one-time fee for Infinite Painter. Connecting the tablet to a computer via a secondary USB-C port activates a display-off mode, allowing users to run desktop applications and adjust stylus pressure sensitivity using XPPen drivers.
