The thunderstorm has already become apparent in large parts of Austria in the last few days. Yesterday, Friday, May 13, in the late followingnoon, heavy rain and hail fell particularly heavily over large parts of Carinthia and caused the first damage to agriculture.

“In the Völkermarkt district in particular, more than 1,000 hectares of arable land was damaged, arable crops and grassland are affected. The storm also affected a nursery. According to the first surveys by the experts from the Austrian hail insurance company, the total damage in agriculture is around 250.000 Euro“, says the responsible provincial manager in Carinthia, Hubert Gernigin a first balance sheet.
