With the theme of “Chinese Dragon Boat Festival Poetic Yichang”, this year’s cultural festival will hold the first “International Forum on the Study of Qu Yuan Culture” and the annual meeting of the Chinese Qu Yuan Society in addition to the opening ceremony, dragon boat competition, investment fair, folk customs exhibition and other activities. A series of activities, such as the collection of works of Qu Yuan from young people around the world, continue to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of Qu Yuan’s culture.
The large-scale music and dance poem “China in the Songs of Chu” brought a cultural feast to the audience. Among them, programs such as “Qu Yuan”, “Orange Lanterns in the Sky”, “Up and Down”, “Li Sao”, and “Songs of Chu”, which were created with Qu Yuan and his works as the core, presented the unique romance in “Songs of Chu” and promoted Qu Yuan’s profound Home and country feelings and spirit of inquiry.
The custom of the Dragon Boat Festival in Qu Yuan’s hometown was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006. In 2009, the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In July 2021, the Yichang Municipal Party Committee clearly proposed to make Quyuan culture an eternal cultural landmark in Yichang, and to make Yichang an authoritative interpretation, standard setting and activity gathering place of Quyuan culture.
