President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol is resting at his home in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, on the 12th, and seems to be contemplating the final decision on the appointment of the transition committee.
President-elect Kim Eun-hye, spokeswoman for the president-elect, said in a phone call with Yonhap News on the same day, “President-elect Yoon plans to rest at home today, thinking about the roadmap for future state administration.” Even if the meeting is held privately with some of the staff, the People’s Power will not appear in the office of Yeouido.
Previously, there were speculations that he could go on a vacation with his wife, Kim Gun-hee, somewhere in the countryside, but it was reported that it was temporarily put on hold in consideration of the tight schedule of taking over the presidency. It is known that the married couple Yoon-Elect celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary the day before.
Currently, President-elect Yoon is struggling at the last minute to decide on the appointment of the transition committee. The previous day, at a luncheon meeting with Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the People’s Party, opinions about the formation of the transition committee were discussed, but it has not been decided whether or not to appoint Ahn as the transition chairperson.
In the case of Rep. Kwon Young-se, who led the predecessor headquarters, there were rumors about the appointment of a vice-chairman at one time, but it is not expected that it will lead to an actual appointment as he himself refused.
President-elect Yoon is considering a plan to directly announce the appointment of the transition committee by holding a press conference at the company on the afternoon of the 13th at the earliest. There is also the possibility that the timing of the appointment announcement may be moved to next week.
