Corning unveils Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This new generation of reinforced glass is expected on the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and promises to withstand drops of one meter on concrete.

Not even afraid of concrete
As a reminder, the first Gorilla Glass Victus of the name was Corning’s most resistant glass so far and it is the one found on most of the most expensive smartphones wishing to reassure their users.

To underline the relevance of Gorilla Glass Victus 2, Corning also mentions two interesting observations. The first is that “84% of consumers in three of the biggest smartphone markets — China, India and the United States — cite durability as the number one purchasing criterion, after the brand itself“. The second is that “smartphones are nearly 15% heavier, and screen sizes are up to 10% larger than four years ago“. This necessarily influences the way in which the resistance of smartphone screens must be designed.
