The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this Friday the death of Omar Ignacio Jimenez Villarroelyoung of 22 years who had been missing since May 24, 2022when he left his house located in the René Schneider Population of the San Carlos commune, in the Ñuble Region.
According to the Public Ministry, the Legal Medical Service of Concepción confirmed, by DNA testswhat a corpse found on December 11 in the Ñuble Rivernear the Nahueltoro Bridge, corresponds to Jiménez.
“The prosecutor Tamara Cuello met this followingnoon with the father construction engineering student to inform him regarding the identification and progress of the investigation he is in charge of, in which he works with the PDI Homicide Brigade,” the institution explained.
Despite confirming the identity of the young man, the cause of death has not yet been determinedsince it is necessary to carry out breathalyzer, toxicological and histological tests.
“The body was found in the Ñuble River, in the Cachapoal sector of San Carlos, in a place of difficult access and the Special Police Operations Group (GOPE) of Carabineros and (volunteers of) Firefighters worked on his rescue,” recalled the Prosecutor’s Office.
