Young man shot in the head while visiting New York building

Randell Timber, a 25-year-old man, was fatally shot in the head during an apparent confrontation inside an apartment he was visiting in a NYCHA building in The Bronx (NYC).

Police officers responding to a report of gunshots at Morrisania Houses on Washington Ave. near E. 169th St. found Timber wounded and unconscious inside the first-floor apartment around 10:55 p.m. Tuesday.

The gunman had fled by the time police arrived, and no weapons were recovered inside the apartment. The victim died at the scene.

Two people found in the apartment with Timber were detained, questioned and released, the police said. No arrests have been made.

Timber was visiting the apartment and lived in the Van Nest section of the Bronx, according to police. He apparently had left, but he returned when he realized that he had forgotten his glasses and that’s when he was shot for unspecified reasons.

“[Ellos] they kept harassing him, he tried to leave,” she told Daily News Kimberley Baez, 21, a friend of Timber’s. “They were just harassing him and those things”.

“He was a good person,” Baez added. “He had a good sense of humor, he always cared about other people too. good spirit I’m shocked.”

Some residents described the apartment where the shooting occurred as a flashpoint. “These people start arguing. From the argument, they go on to fight. [De] the fighting, they come back with weapons,” said Idalia Rodríguez, 57. “It happens often. crazy crazy You are not safe here.

“There’s always something going on in that apartment,” another unidentified neighbor commented. Timber was arrested twice in 2019, for assault and rape, but it is not clear if his criminal record had anything to do with his death.
