Kannur: The bravery of a young man with an ax in Peringathur town. The young man smashed the goods at the supermarket in the town and the windows at the counter. Jamal, a native of Gurujimukh, created an atmosphere of terror in the town last night. He was later arrested by the police.
It was around 8.45pm on Sunday night when Jamal arrived at the safari supermarket in town with his ax. Only the main shutter was open as it was time for the establishment to close. This time the young man, who arrived violently, smashed the windows of the counter. With this, those who were at the counter ran away. Later, the young man entered the supermarket and smashed the items on the shelf. He then smashed the windows of the fridge and took out two of the chocolates in it and walked out.
He turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place. Some people tried to catch him but he was slightly scratched while swinging his ax.
Moments after the attack on the supermarket, Jamal’s autorickshaw was found burnt. The autorickshaw parked in Peringathur town caught fire. The youth was later arrested by the police.
According to police, the youth was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Police say they suspect he is a drug addict. The arrested youth has been admitted to the police addiction center.
