A young Polish woman causes a stir on the web: she claims on Instagram that she is Madeleine McCann, who disappeared in 2007. According to her statement, even Maddie’s parents have now agreed to a DNA test.

On May 3, 2007, the then three-year-old British girl Madeleine McCann – also known as Maddie – disappeared from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal. The parents had left Maddie and her two younger siblings at the apartment while they had dinner with friends at a nearby restaurant. They checked on the children regularly – until the mother suddenly realized with horror: Maddie’s bed was empty and the patio door was open. Since then there has been no trace of the girl.

Young Polish woman: “I’m Maddie”

A young Polish woman who wants to prove with numerous photos on Instagram that she is Madeleine McCann, who disappeared 16 years ago, is now causing excitement on the Internet. Julia Faustyna’s account now has more than half a million followers, numerous photos compare the same characteristics of her and Maddie.

Features are compared

In numerous posts, Julia Faustyna tries to prove that Maddie and her are the same person: a spot in the eye, a birthmark on the leg, a gap between the teeth.

No baby photos

Her family has always spoken very evasively about the past, and there are no photos from her youngest childhood. The profile information now reads that Kate and Gerry McCann have agreed to a DNA test – there is currently no public statement from Maddie’s parents.

German suspect charged

Authorities in Germany are convinced that the then three-year-old Madeleine McCann was killed by the now 46-year-old pedophile Christian Brückner in Portugal. The German was indicted by the public prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig last year. He is accused of a total of three counts of aggravated rape and two counts of child sexual abuse between late December 2000 and June 2017 in Portugal. The man is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for the 2005 rape of an American woman in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
